Our School Development Plan
In September 2022, our school gained a new Headteacher, a new Senior Leadership team and a new Governing board. Because of that, our school has seen significant change over the last 2 years. Some of the things we have already changed for the better are:
The way we teach Reading and Writing
The use of White Rose Maths for the teaching of Maths
We have re vamped our curriculum and our children now 'TRAVEL' into the future, knowing more and remembering more whilst learning the skills to help them to do this
We have new Curriculum Champions who are leading the way for each subject area
Our Senior Leadership has expanded and leaders take part in coaching and training to ensure that they support other staff to be the best that they can be
We have re written our behaviour policy as a whole school and we now follow 4 whole school expectations
All staff have had restorative behaviour training
Our SENDCo has completely re vamped the provision we have for children with additional needs, ensuring that our 'Ordinarily available provision' in our school is meeting the needs of all
We have opened our our Internal Inclusive Provision called 'The Jungle'
We have introduced a Well-Being Working party for staff and children
We now have a vast range of extra curricular opportunities for children
We have a brand new 'Friends of Elm Wood' who have already raised over £10000 for our school and helped us to open a new library
We now welcome parents into school at every opportunity including open evenings, welcome meetings, class assemblies and end of year celebrations
Our classes are now named after 'Gems' in line with our behaviour policy
Our EYFS has a brand new vision and has changed the way we work
Year 1 children now access continuous provision, building on the skills they learn in EYFS
We are now heavily supported by our Local Authority School Improvement Officer
We have received support from the Local Authority for Reading, Writing and phonics
We also have support from an external School Improvement Officer
The staff have access to professional development through our SLA with the REAL Trust
This year (2024/25) our Reception and Nursery are both completely full
Ofsted rated our school as a 'Good' school with an Outstanding Early Years in March 2024
Although we have already implemented so many changes that are having a huge impact on our children, we still have lots to do. Have a look below at our School Development plan for 2024/2025 to see how we plan to continue to improve
