Here is our curriculum intent for Design Technology

At Elm Wood Primary School, our ambitious Design Technology curriculum is built around essential knowledge, understanding and the development of key skills. Through our Design Technology curriculum, pupils learn to be risk takers and become resourceful, resilient and innovative; working both independently and collaboratively.  We want our pupils to use creativity and imagination to design and make products that solve real and relevant problems within a variety of contexts, considering their own and others’ needs, wants and values. They will research and evaluate past and present design technology and will develop an understanding of its influence in the wider world.  Pupils acquire a broad range of subject knowledge with strong, cross curricular links to other subjects, such as Mathematics, Science, Computing and Art. Our Design and Technology curriculum will prepare our pupils and give them the opportunities, responsibilities and varied experiences they need to be successful in later life.
