Maths
Our Curriculum intent for Maths
At Elm Wood, we want our children to be resilient mathematicians, who enjoy the sense of curiosity and discovery that Mathematics brings. We aim for all children to become confident, determined and inquisitive mathematicians with a passion to explore the world of number. Mathematics is delivered using the White Rose Scheme of Work, giving our pupils the skills to ensure they can become fluent in the fundamentals of mathematics, to be able to reason and to solve problems with having confidence in their mathematic ability. We aim to provide an ambitious, connected curriculum that is accessible to all pupils by providing concrete, pictorial and abstract resources to support their mathematical development and to help them build the skills they need for the future. Our curriculum allows children to make better sense of the world around them by making connections between mathematics and everyday life.
